Project L is a real device we're actively testing and refining. We're currently in DVT (Design Validation Test), where prototypes already look and function close to the final product, running dual-screen display, real-time 3D scenes, character rendering, and full hardware validation. We're now preparing for small-batch trial production ahead of mass production, while final design, software, and features continue to take shape. Your character has a life of its own on your desk—talking with you, responding to what you say and do, and acting out different “Scenes,” such as relaxing, dancing, or sleeping. Each Scene is designed to bring together richer movements, behaviors, and interactions as the experience continues to evolve.

A "Scene" is the module that shapes how your character behaves in a given context, and it's the main unit we focus on when refining interactions. Within each Scene, characters move freely, walking around, sitting, and interacting with objects around them, and even idle behaviors are built in, so they stay alive and breathing when you're not interacting with them. Much of our ongoing development continues to focus on expanding what's possible within and across Scenes.

Project L supports multiple interaction modes, including voice through the built-in microphone and speakers, direct touch on both screens, and a built-in camera that senses your movements and surroundings to help your character respond accordingly. Your character responds through movement, expressions, and sound. More interaction details will be shared as development progresses.

Yes, a single Project L is designed to support multiple characters sharing the same Scene. Whether and how they interact with each other depends on the Scene itself, with some Scenes designed for characters to acknowledge each other and share routines, and others, like sleep or focus modes, keeping characters more independent. We're still finalizing how many characters a single device can support, and multi-character features will develop through software updates after launch.

Yes. With smart daisy-chain syncing, units placed side by side or stacked can recognize their neighboring spaces. Characters can notice nearby companions, visit them, and move between units, turning multiple devices into one expanded, interconnected world—what we call as "multiverse." In our prototypes, we've gotten 3 units working together, and we're testing whether 4 is possible. The exact experience across units is still being finalized, and we'll share specifics as we get closer to launch.

No. You can create, personalize, and manage your characters via LYNOOK Studio, our companion software for Project L. Choose a character from the LYNOOK Library, generate one with AI, or import your own 3D model in formats like VRM and MMD, with support for more formats planned over time. From there, you can adjust your character’s personality, voice, behavior, and room settings. Many of these features are still in development, and we’ll share more with the community as they reach key milestones or become ready for internal testing.

No. Project L is a fully standalone device with its own processor, memory, and storage built in, and it runs independently without needing to be tethered to a PC, phone, or tablet. A Wi-Fi connection is needed for cloud AI features, but the device itself is self-contained and designed to live on your desk as its own presence.

The current version measures approximately 10 × 6 × 6 inches, giving your character a meaningful presence on your desk. Additional form factors are being explored, with details announced before launch. Project L supports USB-C power for plugged-in use, plus a swappable battery pack for around 3 to 5 hours of portable use.

Yes. We'll continue rolling out free software updates that improve how Project L works, including new Scenes, features, and interaction mechanics. Core functions, local content, and Scenes will remain free. Some advanced AI features may rely on third-party services with their own costs, possibly requiring an optional subscription, but core experience updates will always remain free for everyone who owns Project L.

Project L is being developed around a hybrid AI approach that combines cloud-based LLMs with on-device local models. We plan to support major third-party cloud AI APIs, while local model support will be explored based on the device’s hardware capabilities and the quality of the resulting experience. The device itself handles core 3D rendering, character animations, and interactions with the surrounding environment locally, so these parts of the experience can continue to work offline. Over time, we aim to support a broader range of AI models and workflows. Options such as connecting Project L to a more powerful PC are also areas we’re open to exploring, and we welcome the community to share what kinds of setups and integrations would be most useful.
